Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you so much to everyone involved in organising the Christmas Fair. We are so lucky to have such a great PTFA and this years’ fair raised an incredible £1,000. Thank you also to all the friends of Palm Bay who generously donated prizes for our raffle.

The children have been so busy over the last couple of weeks with lots of fun Christmassy activities. Last week I was lucky to accompany the whole of year 3 to the Gulbenkian Theatre to see a wonderful dance production of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Match Girl. It was a magical performance that we all thoroughly enjoyed. Our choir sang carols at the promenade in Margate on the very wet and windy Monday this week, and they will be singing again next Monday for the Memories Group at Margate Bowling Club for local people with Alzheimer’s. We have also been treated to the children’s lovely Christmas performances – Reception on Wednesday and Key Stage 1 on Thursday. We are looking forward to Key Stage 2’s carol concerts next week and hope to see lots of you there.

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our topic landings this week to share and celebrate your child’s learning. I am sorry that you weren’t given more notice of these dates and times. The dates for next terms topic landings are stated overleaf.

I have some updates to share with you regarding our Governors:

Congratulations to Josh Sims who has been voted on as our new parent governor. Congratulations also to Mrs Smith who has opted to be our new staff governor. I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of all the governors, to thank Mrs Solly, who has completed 3 full terms of office as a staff governor for Palm Bay, clocking up an impressive 12 years of dedicated governance for our school. She must be a glutton for punishment, as she is starting as a Parent Governor at her children’s school where we know she will be able to offer a wealth of skills and support.

Lastly, we wanted to remind you of our procedures in the event of severe snow. We will always do our utmost to keep the school open and will only take the decision to close the school in the interests of the children’s safety. Should we experience heavy snow, parents and carers will be notified by text and can also check the KCC website, www.kentclosures.co.uk.

This is our last newsletter of the term so we hope you all have a lovely festive break and look forward to seeing you in the new year. Please remember that school finishes at 1.30pm on Wednesday 20th December and there will be no after-school clubs or Extended Day Provision on this day. Your children will be welcomed back to school on Monday 8th January.

Best wishes

Miss Williams

Head Teacher
