Newsletter 23 March 2018

Dear Parents and Carers

What a busy term we’ve had – I can’t believe we’re almost 2/3 through this school year!

Last week was a very musical week for Palm Bay. On Tuesday, representatives from our school choir performed in the Thanet Festival of Song at the Margate Winter Gardens. They sang beautifully and looked fab in their new choir T-shirts. On Thursday, a selection of pupils from Years 5 and 6 performed at the Thanet Schools Orchestra day at Dane Court. Along with children from 8 other local Primary Schools, the children learnt some classical pieces as well as composing their own original ensemble piece which they performed to their families at the end of the day. It was a memorable experience! Thank you very much to Miss Sirota, who organised both events.

Thank you to all the Year 4 Parents and Carers who joined us for the Year 4 Parent Lunch last Wednesday. On the same day we celebrated both Sports Relief and World Downs Syndrome Day by wearing brightly coloured clothes and participating in a Clubbercise session. We’re proud to say we raised an impressive £580 which will be shared equally between these two important charities.

Year 5 Jays class were the second class to spend an entire day at the Turner Contemporary Art Gallery, as part of the ‘My Classroom is at the Gallery’ project, run by Mrs Tong. The children had free reign over the top floor of the gallery and directed their own cross-curricular learning in response to the exhibition there.

Finally, on Friday, Years 1, 2 and 6 enjoyed a Bouncathon session as a reward for winning the Green Tokens competition for the Spring term.

This week we hope to see lots of you at the Topic Landings and the Year 5 and 6 Spring Concert (please refer to the ‘Important Dates’ section of the newsletter for timings). A reminder that we are closing early on the last day of term (Thursday 29th), so children are to be collected at 1.30pm please, and Monday 16th April is a Teacher Training day, so we look forward to welcoming your children back to Palm Bay on Tuesday 17th.

We wish you a fun and relaxing Easter break.

Best wishes,

Miss Williams

Head Teacher
