Newsletter 2 November 2018

Dear Parents and Carers

This week year one explored moving like a superhero to superhero music. We also explored how stories with superhero characters are structured, looking closely at their features. Year 6 have been exploring with Shackleton. They have felt the coldness and imagined the bitter ice frost of his journey which has made them feel very grateful for their home comforts. Reception children are making wonderful progress with learning their sounds and children in Years 3 and 4 have been enjoying story writing this week.

We have our Palm Bay PTFA Halloween Disco this afternoon, the children are extremely excited about it and I am sure it will be another great success.

As you will see further into the Newsletter we are holding an Art Auction on 15th November. This is a wonderful opportunity to pur-chase some locally donated art and help raise funds for our Art Department in school. We may also have a celebrity auctioneer to help us! I hope to see as many of you there, bring family and friends too for an enjoyable adult evening.

Next week is Parliament Week and we will be having a special as-sembly for our years 3 through to 6 students. Monday the year 6’s also have a politics lesson.

Parents’ evening sessions are being held next week, this is a great opportunity for you to see your child’s teacher and have a chance to hear how they are getting on at school.

Wednesday 7th we have our Explore Maths Competition being held by Miss Fox.

Our year 5 students have an exciting visit on Thursday next week from a mobile planetarium. This is a fantastic way to encourage learning in science and we hope that the children will enjoy it.

Next week will be finished off with a Grove Ferry trip for the year 3 children. What an exciting week ahead we have.

Don’t forget, we have our Book Fair from 12th to 16th November.

This weekend will see many firework displays as Guy Fawkes Night lands on Monday. Fireworks are a fun and exciting way to celebrate, but they also pose serious fire and safety hazards. Follow all guidelines and please ensure your children are vigilant and cautious. Encourage your children to learn the risks and dangers also. Hope you have a happy and safe weekend.

Best wishes,

Miss Williams

Head Teacher
