Dear Parents and Carers

We are finishing the second week of our Switch off Fort-night. We can’t wait to hear how much we have saved, Mr Kimpton is busy working on the maths. This has increased staff and child awareness around the school of the energy that we are consuming. Well done everyone, this is something we will be aiming to continue throughout the school year. We have also begun our ‘pen recycling’ scheme, initiated by our Eco-Council.

Our year 1 children had a fantastic visit last week from the paramedics which were greatly enjoyed by all. This was linked to their topic on heroes and the visit has certainly inspired lots of them in thinking about their possible future careers. At Headteacher’s tea today, one Year 1 pupil informed me he wants to be a paramedic for animals when he grows up.

Key Stage 1 have been very busy rehearsing for their Nativity which is on the 18th December. I look forward to watching the finished show and hope that many of you will be able to join us. A huge well done to Sparrows class, who won the green tokens this week for their good behaviour.

Today we have had a Religious Studies day and pupils have been learning about all aspects of Hinduism. There have been lots of creative responses, with pupils making rangoli patterns and bright, colourful pictures depicting the festival of Holi.

Congratulations to our talented Choir who sang with the Thanet Male Voice Choir last week. The feedback received was wonderful and their choirmaster described our young singers as ‘magnificent’ – hopefully, this will now become an annual event! Don’t forget to join our Choir performing at the Turner Contemporary Christmas Light Switch on tomorrow at 3.50pm.

Thank you to all the parents that came in for our Maths Workshop run by Miss Fox. We are still selling the Funkey Maths times tables cards, as well as the Maths packs that Mrs Bootes showed parents who attended her workshop last week (suitable for children in Reception and KS1). Please ask at the office if you would like to purchase either of these resources.

Have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes,

Miss Williams

Head Teacher
