Newsletter 1 February 2019

Dear Parents and Carers

Today we celebrated Number Day by wearing mathematical clothing. There were some very imaginative outfits, with children able to explain the maths they were wearing, including horizontal, vertical and parallel lines, different shapes, numbers, operations and dates. My favourite staff outfit was worn by Mrs Newbold who dressed as a domino! The children had lots of fun throughout the day doing a variety of maths challenges and we raised an impressive £143.65 for the NSPCC.

On Wednesday evening this week, our rugby team represented the school in a tournament at Chatham and Clarendon Grammar school and won! They came back delighted, proudly showing off their gold medals. A special thank you to Gary Burgess, who oversaw the event in Miss Delderfield’s absence.

I have enjoyed seeing lots of lovely writing this
week. Children in Reception wrote sentences about the cold weather and I have been treated to some wonderful stories by children in Key Stage 2. In other exciting news, Jays’ class pets – stick insects – have had babies this week!

Next week, Year 5 have an Egyptians workshop on Thursday and on Friday we will all be learning about Buddhism for our Religious Studies day.

I hope you all have a good weekend and keep warm!

Best wishes,

Miss Williams
Head Teacher
