Dear Parents and Carers

We have come to the end of a fun and busy half term and lots of wonderful learning have taken place. Last week Year 5 enjoyed their Egyptians workshop where they got to dress up, see Egyptian artefacts and experience some historical games. Last Friday we all learned about Buddhism for RS day – I thoroughly enjoyed meditating with both Year 1 and Year 5 pupils!

I am proud of all the children who have won times tables badges and have decided to extend the competition for 2 more weeks so get practising over half term. I am looking forward to seeing the results.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended Topic Landings this week; we had a great turn out for all sessions. The children were very enthusiastic about their learning, and, as always, enjoyed celebrating and sharing their work. The displays were wonderful – I particularly enjoyed Year 1’s dinosaur exhibition and dance. After half term, we are excited to be having Robokids (technology and engineering) workshops for our year 1-3 pupils.

Yesterday, three of our pupils – Heath, Mia and Thea, represented our school at the Kent Green Trees Schools Awards, where we were awarded a special certificate in recognition of our conservation work to develop our school pond habitat. This is a fantastic award, which we as a school are extremely pleased to have received.

We are also delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Gold Artsmark in recognition of our commitment to creativity at Palm Bay. Here is a snippet of their lovely feedback:

“Your school is clearly one that values the arts, everything you do is driven by this. Your very many successful partnerships are having a great impact on learning outcomes for your pupils and your staff, indeed the impact of your partnerships are a real strength. Having an artist in residence based at your school will no doubt be providing some rich learning experiences for your pupils and staff. Involving your pupils in the delivery of CPD and the use of some of your pupils as Young Arts Leaders is another strong feature of your school”.

Well done and a big thank you to Mrs Tong, who has led the Artsmark process over the past 2 years.

We wish you all a fun and relaxing half term and I look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 25th February.

Best wishes,

Miss Williams
