Newsletter 8 March 2019

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you enjoyed your break; we have had a very busy couple of weeks; returning from half term with a visit from the Bug Man for our year 2 pupils. They thoroughly enjoyed this, learning about different insects and getting a chance to hold them. Later in the week, we had a visit from Robokids, with a Space show which was followed by a workshop; another great experience for our pupils. Our teachers also had a Space Training Session from the same company.

Some of our year 5 and 6 pupils went to the Quicksticks Hockey Festival held at Chatham House Grammar School on Monday of this week. As always, our pupils represented the school very well.

We had great fun on Pancake Day, Miss Delderfield arranged a pancake race with real pancakes. Unfortunately, the seagulls decided they wanted a taste too!

Kestrels Class spent the whole day at the Turner Contemporary on Wednesday for the “My Classroom is a Gallery Project”, and all of our year 5 pupils had a drama workshop yesterday in the school hall.

A huge thank you to all parents/carers that attended Parents/Carers Evenings this week, we had a fantastic turnout, it is such a good opportunity to share your children’s progress.

T Smith was the Palm Bay Primary School Winner in the recent Litter Angels Poster Competition. Her award was presented to her by Craig McKinley MP who visited the school today. Mr McKinley then enjoyed Head Teacher’s Tea with T Smith as well as a few pupils from throughout the school including two of our Eco-Warriors.

The next couple of weeks are just as busy. Our year 6 pupils have an exciting trip to Dreamland on Tuesday for a SALUS workshop. We have World Sing Up Day on Wednesday, the whole school will be singing the official song together, followed by a couple of performances from the School Choir. We will then be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 14th with a special visit from Ian Whybrow, who will also be signing some books for us to sell. I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s outfits! Friday 15th is Comic Relief, where we will be walking our new running track to the song “these boots are made for walking”. Week beginning 18th March, we will be holding our Book Fair.

Have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes,

Miss Williams

Head Teacher
