Newsletter 22 March 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a busy couple of week’s we have had at Palm Bay!

On the 12th Miss Delderfield took our dancers to the regional heat of the Great Big Dance Off at Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone and we came 3rd! Well done to all of them and the very best of luck for the next round.

It was lovely to see all of the outfits for World Book Day last week. Our workshops with Ian Whybrow were thoroughly enjoyed and we hope that the children were happy spending their book token at the book fair this week.

We had World Sing Up Day on the 13th and we joined hundreds of schools worldwide to sing the same song and film it. It will be uploaded to the Sing Up website.

Last Friday we were joined by the Cantate Chamber Choir, a small, local amateur group, of which Mrs Maiden-Tilsen is a founding member! The children really came to life when listening to live music and it was so lovely to see the school choir inspiring their peers. We look forward to singing with them in the near future at a combined intergenerational event.

Five children from Year 4 were chosen to represent the school in an inter-school times table competition. The children worked exceptionally well at working in a team to complete the tasks which included mastery questions, investigating factor pairs, and a rapid-fire round! They won second place in the competition and were only a point away from first! A big well done to Sophia, Theo, Archie, Holly and Freya.

A huge thank you again to our PTFA for their contribution towards the running track, which is now in full use.

Next week we have the Thanet Festival of Song on Tuesday evening at
the Winter Gardens and Year 3 are going to have a workshop, by a
company called Living Histories. They will be transported back to
Ancient Greece to learn about life in a Greek city. They will experience an Ancient Greek market place and a temple to one of the Gods, learning about how the people worshipped thousands of years ago.

On Friday we will have our Holi festival celebration and we will be doing some Bollywood dancing. I’m sure this will put us all in the mood for the PTFA disco later that day.

Don’t forget our Kingswood Residential meeting today from 3.30pm for our Year 5 parents and carers. Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Williams,

Head Teacher
