Newsletter 21 June 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,
Our busy summer term continues.

Yesterday evening we were delighted to welcome the parents and carers of our new Reception pupils to Palm Bay.

We have also had our current Reception and Year one parent lunches over the past two and it was lovely to see so many of you. Next Wednesday we look forward to welcoming parents and carers of pupils in year 2 for lunch.

Our Year 6 children had a fantastic time at their science jamboree last week and our Year 5 children (Jays) attended Chatham and Clarendon Grammar School for STEAM day. There were many activities for the pupils to participate in, some of which included printing T-shirts, and making metal tags, as well as baking! They were buzzing with enthusiasm when they returned to school.

Thank you to all of the dads and granddads who came along for our EYFS father’s day event on the 14th, it was great to see you all.

The local fruit and veg shop – K.G. Winters on Northdown Road – has now been on site for the last two Thursdays. Do come along on a Thursday afternoon as they will be selling locally grown goodies on the school premises from 2.45pm – 4 pm every week. Cash and cards are accepted.

It was our French Day at Palm Bay Yesterday – there were lots of activities for the children and everyone had fun practising their language skills and learning about France and French culture. Year 2 studied the French artists Matisse and Cezanne and created some wonderful collages inspired by their techniques.

We have lots happening next week. On Wednesday afternoon, Mrs Tong is attending an Artsmark celebration event where we will officially be awarded our Gold Artsmark. On Thursday our Palm Bay Choir will be performing at the Turner Contemporary, at the opening of the Portfolio Exhibition, alongside our friends from Holy Trinity Ramsgate. On Thursday we also have our KS2 potted sports (9.30am) and Year 3 and 4 races (1.30pm). Parents and carers are welcome to attend and support their children. Years 1 and 4 have an exciting trip to Chatham and Clarendon Grammar School on Friday, as part of the Kidenza Orchestral Music programme.

Don’t forget, today we have our Kingswood meeting in the hall for our Year 4 parents from 3.30pm – we hope to see you there.

Have a lovely weekend.
